Term 3 Pupil's Feedback Form & Class Photos

Dear boys,

You will be getting your Term 3 Feedback Form on Wed.
It will be sealed in an envelope so please hand the envelope personally to your parents.

As we have no Science lessons on Wed, this is a gentle reminder here:
I do not wish to witness a repeat of what happened in Term 1 - where some of you ripped open the envelope immediately after receiving it and informing the teachers that you have been given the permission to open up letters which are meant for your parents. Let's observe some basic courtesy & respect this time round ya?

Your parents may keep the copy of feedback form for your DSA next year.
Do bring back the empty envelope, signed by your parent, by 19 Sep (Thur).

You will also be getting the class photos that you have ordered last term so do see me after EL lessons.

Nil Return required for Workshop

Dear boys,

With regards to the letter (yellow) for the workshop which Mr Wang gave out on Tue, thanks to the boys who had submitted the reply slips to Ulvis just now. I've submitted them for processing.

 Do note that the deadline is today, as stated in the letter, so all the remaining pupils who did not submit a nil return, pls kindly bring it back on Mon (19/8).

 Pls be reminded to visit the Science blog for your elearning assignment on Thurs; just realised both my webmasters have overlooked this info. You should not take longer than an hour to complete the activity.

Reminders for Term 3 Week 1

Dear boys,

Welcome back to school!

Hope everyone has managed to get some rest during the June holidays and is ready to work even harder this term!

Term 3 will be a very hectic & packed term given that there are many days where there will be loss of curriculum time such as Youth Day (15/7), Racial Harmony Day (19/7), National Day Celebration (7/8), Hari Raya Puasa (8/8), National Day (9/8), PSLE Oral Exam (15/8 & 16/8), P5 Adventure Camp (26/8 - 28/8), Teach Me to Fish (4/9), Teachers' Day Celebration (5/9), Teachers' Day (6/9). 

Hence, you would be expected to stay back for extra supplementary lessons for Science and other subjects. Letters for Supplementary lessons & remedials (if any) will be given out by your subject teachers by Week 3. Do keep your Weds & Thurs free for the moment.

Items to take note:

1. Submission of report book by Tue (2/7)
2. Updated timetable for Term 3
3. P5 Adventure Camp (26/8 - 28/8) form to be submitted on Tue (2/7)
Camp T-shirt sizes will be similar to PE T-shirt sizes; samples are in General Office

Final Week of Semester 1

Do set aside time to organise your file this weekend and please strive to get full marks for your file this time round. Hand in as a ring file, together with Cells & Electrical Systems WS.

Early Dismissal on 17/5, 20/5 - 22/5 due to mainstream exams

Dear boys,

A gentle reminder that there will be early dismissal (12.30 p.m.) this Friday, and next Mon - Wed. Kindly  inform your parents to make the necessary transport arrangements for these four days.

I do not wish to see anyone hanging around school after 12.30 p.m. on these days so do head back home early to rest ;)

Reminders

Dear boys,

I hope you are busy preparing for your upcoming exams!
Some gentle reminders to take note on a rainy afternoon:

1. New Cafe at Secondary School
Do note that you are only allowed to purchase food/drinks from the cafe after 2.15 p.m. every day, not 1.45 p.m.

2. P5 Common Test 1 & Soccer (7 - 14 May)
You have been repeatedly reminded by your subject teachers to cease all soccer and activities during this period that will cause you to perspire heavily. This is a measure that we are taking to reduce the incidence of accidents occuring during the exam period. Do utilise this time properly to revise for your papers. However, it has come to our attention that some of you continued with your soccer game during recess time today. At 2.30 p.m., I saw two boys at the parade square, playing soccer.

Closer to and during the exam period, you are strongly encouraged to go back home as soon as lessons are over, instead of hanging around after school.

I understand that it may be difficult for some of you. Hence, if you feel that you are unable to live without soccer in sch the next few days, kindly get your parents' approval and write me a letter to allow you to continue with your games.

3. CHS Family Day 2013 (6 July)
A quick update on the forms you had received today. Earlier, I had mentioned that our class has adopted one of the stalls for family day and each of you will be chipping in $15 to adopt the stall.

Latest news: Pupils are NOT required to chip in to adopt a class game stall this year!
However, through this new initiative, the school hopes that you will continue to show your support by purchasing more game coupons. So do try to purchase more than 1 game coupon ya? :)

Pls return the green, beige and yellow forms by this Friday (10 May)
Nil return is required.


4. Haircut and nails check
For those whose names were taken down by the disclipline committee for long hair, hope you have managed to find time to visit the barber. There will be another round of checking soon.

Proper School Attire on Tuesdays for Term 2

Dear boys,

Please be reminded that for every Tuesday this term, you are expected to report to school in FULL uniform with tie.

You are exempted from this only unless you have to attend SPHERE on Tuesday recess time or you have a SPORTS CCA after school where you will be in PE attire.

Based on the info I had received from the class a few weeks ago, these are the boys who are in SPHERE currently: Lei Yu, Darius, Joshua, Cheng Yat, Wee Kean.

Please let me know if the info I have at hand is updated.

Class Photo Taking (26 Apr) & NAPFA Test (29 May)

Dear boys,

Two dates to take note and add to your calendar.

For the Class Photo Taking on 26 Apr (Friday), our scheduled session is 10.45 a.m., immediately straight after your recess. So for that recess, please refrain from playing soccer or engaging in activities that will cause you to perspire heavily. Also remember to report to school in full uniform; no polo/PE/CCA t-shirt during photo-taking. Bring along the school tie as well. Do also set aside some time this weekend to get a haircut if your hair is getting too long.

P5 NAPFA test will be held on 29 May (Wed), 2 - 4.30 p.m. The test will usually end by 3.45 p.m. if there are no delays. Some of you were sharing with me several days ago on how a particular event has affected your overall score last year. Do try to set aside time these 2 weeks to work on your weaker stations.

Reminders

Dear boys,

Remember to:

1. Show your parents the New South Wales (NSW) competition letter and return the reply slips (with cheque/cash payment in envelope) by Mon. It is not compulsory to take part but a nil return is required.

2. Check the Science blog for instructions on your Electrical Systems concept map & science filing. You are strongly encouraged to check your class blog & science blog regularly for updates on assignments. I must really commend Cheng Yat & Wentuo for their wonderful efforts in helping to update the daily class homework so far! :)

3. We are coming to an end of Term 1 (Yes, time flies!) and next week is Week 8 already. Please complete all the cut-outs for your Art Animation lesson by next Wed. Group leaders, pls allocate the duties & remind your group members to finish up the work. We will be doing filming next week and groups with incompleted work will not be able to proceed.

46th War Memorial Service (15 Feb)

Dear boys,

You will receive the letter for the War Memorial Service on Tue.

The Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) will be holding the 46th War Memorial Service for the Civilian Victims of the Japanese Occupation at the War Memorial Park, Beach Road on 15th February 2013 (Friday), from 9 - 10 a.m.

This annual memorial service is held in remembrance of the victims who perished during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore and will tie in with Total Defence Day. Do seek your parents' permission to attend the memorial. We will leave school at 8 a.m. and return back around 11 a.m.

The IVP pupils will be going for the IVP Launch in the afternoon that day. 
Mdm Kavitha will brief the involved pupils more about the event tomorrow.

The list of food items for the class pot luck has been updated and the recommended quantity included.

CNY Celebrations 2013

Dear boys,

Pls inform your parents that they are invited to join 5 Fai & Gen for the combined class potluck on 8 Feb (Fri). I don't require Annex A of the letter to be returned to me but do check with your parents the 2 possible food items you can bring for the class potluck. Eventually, you will contribute 1 food item for the potluck. I will be passing around a list for you to fill up on Monday.

The school is also organising a food donation drive for Xin Yuan Community Care, a non-profit organisation for assisting the needy elderly. Our P6 pupils have been visiting Xin Yuan Community Care for Service Learning for the past few years. Next year, all of you are likely to be involved too.

Do consider donating some food items as suggested in Annex B. A little contribution from each of you will definitely go a long way for these needy elderly. Place the food items in a plastic bag at the back of our class, with your name. I will get the class captains (Yi Heng, Anselm & Shao Yang) and the prefects to help to bring the items to the storage classroom.

Limited Parking Space in Catholic High on 18 Jan

Dear boys,

Please inform your parents that there will be limited parking space in Catholic High Secondary on Friday evening. Apparently the secondary school is conducting their PTM tomorrow and there is a very high probability that most of the parking lots would be occupied by evening time.

In the event of such an occurence, do tell your parents to park their cars at the multi-storey carpark next to our school.
